Domestic Art Project Yomoyama-So, run by two Japanese artists, is a project that organizes art exhibitions in the context of a traditional Japanese house. This setting provides the artists a space in which to examine the possibilities of creating work in a shared living environment.

The project invites its resident artists to reconsider everyday acts and behaviors by engaging daily life in the artmaking process. Through the creative act, the meaning of each and every element of the house is opened up to new possibilities.
The Yomoyama-So house is unique in that it allows its residents to live in a traditional Japanese home environment.

The Yomoyama-So Residency Program invites artists from diverse backgrounds whose practices can be expanded through the engagement with the domestic space. They live and work together alongside the host artists, and the resulting work is exhibited at the site once a year.
